Howard Glenn Carey - Class Of 1980

Elder Howard "Glenn" Carey departed this life on Saturday, May 20, 2023, He was born in Esmont, Virginia, the son of Phyllis Londree of Esmont, Virginia, and the late Robert Gilliam. He was the husband of Linda Carey.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Stevan Gilliam; his grandmother, Amanda Londree; two uncles, Norbert Carey and Cornell Carey; and an aunt, Marie Davis.

He was a graduate of Albemarle High School and a veteran who served in the U.S. Army. His career was spent working as a professional Truck Driver.

He leaves to cherish his memory in addition to his mother, Phyllis and wife, Linda; a son, Jarmar Carey; three daughters, Artaga Carey, Travis Hornsby, and Jasmine Carey; five brothers, Richard Carey (Rita), Ronald Carey (Gail), David Londree, Jerrema Gilliman, and Robert Gillam; six sisters, Janice Brown, Sandra Blair (John); Charlene Austin, Kaneyo Burton, Meshanna Jackson (John), and Angela Morris; seven grandchildren, Al' aia, Jeremiah, Arianna, Zahmaria, Londyn, Jahbari, and Noah; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023, at New Hope Baptist Church, Esmont, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

He will lie in repose from 12 until 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at J. F. Bell Funeral Home Chapel.
