Daniel Gordon Wood, Sr., 78, a resident of Lyndhurst, VA, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at his home.
He was born October 7, 1946 in Charlottesville, VA, a son of the late Marvin and Beatrice (Morris) Wood.
He was retired from Sperry Marine as a Machinist for 44 years.
Mr. Wood loved many things in life, including camping and visiting Pigeon Forge, TN. However, his greatest love was for his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Broadus Wood; daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Janet Wood.
Surviving are his loving wife of 45 years, Margaret Wood; children, Daniel “Danny” Wood, Jr., Tammy Karalevicz and husband Dave, Rodney Wood, Richard “Chad” Wood and wife Bridget, Frances Hayden and husband Jimmy, Lisa Marvin and husband Doug, and Frankie Wood; 11 grandchildren, Bridgette, Cordell, Jesse, Riley, Alex, Leann, Melissa, Caitlin, Simon, Sophie, and Zach; 3 great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Braxton, and Kylee; brother, Harold Wood (Debbie); sisters, Janice Richmond (Eddie), Joyce Sprouse, Nancy Kegley (T.A.), Brenda Garrison (Paul), Bernice Thacker (Jamie), Karen Wood (Ronnie), Debbie Brown (David), Helen Wood, and Margie Wood.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Free Union Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Free Union, VA.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Marsha and her team at Kline’s Ice Cream, and to the caring staff at Hospice of the Shenandoah.
