Richard E. Shiflett - Class Of 1960

Richard E. Shiflett passed away on August 30, 1990.  He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Burgess Shiflett.

Sherman Shifflett provided the following information.

Richard was in my senior class at Albemarle, 1960.  Played football with him. He transferred over from Lane High School the same year I returned. I spent my sophomore year at Lane.   Richard suffered a severe leg injury in a game against Spotsylvania and was never the same.  AHS was leading Spotsylvania like 60-0.
 
Richard enrolled at VMI, but got married and married cadets cannot remain in school there.  Think he finished at University of Richmond.  Richard married Evelyn Burgess;  she was also in AHS class of 1960. He was living in Morganton, NC and I think Evelyn still lives there.
 
I was a pall bearer at Richard's funeral
