Nancy Leslie Chambers of Tazewell died Monday, March 7, 2005 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville following a long illness.
She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Bland Leslie of Tazewell.
Mrs. Chambers was a Tazewell native, a graduate of Tazewell schools and Westhampton College.  For many years she was a teacher of Latin and English in Tazewell High School and other schools throughout Virginia.  She was active in community activities when her health allowed full participation.  She was a member of the Tazewell Christian Church, a trustee of the Tazewell County Public Library, and a member of the Fincastle Garden Club.  Her love of flowers was appreciated in the community and she served for many years on the Town Beautification Committee.
She is survived by her husband, Jack P. Chambers and one sister, Louise Leslie of Tazewell.
A brief memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2005 at the Tazewell Christian Church with the Rev. Michael Stump officiating.  Burial will be private at the Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell.
Mrs. Chambers will long be remembered for her generosity and her concern for her many friends of all ages. She was especially interested in the Tazewell Library and any memorial gifts may be made to the Tazewell County Public Library, P.O. Box 929, Tazewell, VA 24651.
Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home of Tazewell, Va. is serving the Chambers family.
