Kelly Hansen Watt - Class Of 2005

 

 

  Kelly Hansen Watt, 18, of Charlottesville, died on Saturday, July 30, 2005,   in a local hospital.

 Born Nov. 2, 1986, in Lake Forest, Ill., he was the son of Paul K.      Watt  and Paige Pattishall Watt of Charlottesville.

 Kelly was a 2005 graduate of Albemarle High School with plans to   attend the College of William and Mary this Fall. He was an avid track  and cross country runner who loved journalism and was a sports writer for "The Hook", writing a weekly article called "Sports Wrap".

His extra curricular activities included, Albemarle High School Newspaper Staff Reporter and Sports Editor, Albemarle Patriot Athletic Leaders, Cross Country Team, Indoor and Outdoor Track, Staff writer for www.milestat.com, and Sports Weekly, a personally written and published weekly sports magazine.

Awards and honors include, National Honor Society, High School National Honor Roll, National German Honor Society, Tri-Athlete Award, Cross Country Team Rookie of the Year, Outdoor Track Rookie of the Year, Cross Country Team Most Improved, Who's Who Among American High School Students, Congressional Youth Leadership Council-American Legion, Inc., Boys State of Virginia, Beta Club, Cross Country Team (most valuable runner), Daily Progress-Central Virginian Cross Country Poll Champion, National Society of High School Scholars, Quill and Scroll International Honor Society for High School Journalists, Pursuing Victory with Honor Award, and Varsity Outdoor Track Most Valuable Runner.

In addition to his parents, Kelly is survived by a sister, Morgan Watt of Charlottesville; a paternal grandmother, Jeanne M. Watt of Evanston, Ill.; 11 aunts and uncles; two great-uncles; three greataunts; and nine Cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today, at the Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Brian Vander Wel officiating. Interment will be private at a later time in the Monticello Memory Gardens.

Hill and Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
