Richard Joseph, Jr. - Class Of 2006

Richard Cary Joseph, Jr. died on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at his home.

Richard Cary was born April 13, 1988 in Charlottesville, VA. He is the son of Richard Cary and Kathie Thalmann Joseph, Sr. of Charlottesville, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Samuel John and Janet Ann Ambler Joseph of Charlottesville; his maternal grandparents George Edward and Katherine Julichs Thalmann. He is also preceded in death by his identical twin and guardian angel, Robert Edward Joseph, who was stillborn.

Richard Cary attended Albemarle County Public Schools, Woodbrook, Sutherland and graduating from Albemarle High School in June 2006. He went on to study at Piedmont Virginia Community College, graduating in May 2013. He loved working at Whole Foods as an Associate.

He is survived by his parents, Richard Cary and Kathie Thalmann Joseph, Sr. of Charlottesville, Va.; his Uncle, John Joseph and wife Susan of Powhatan, Va.; his Aunt, Janet Lee and husband Preston Gentry of Crozet, Va.; his Uncle, Bill Thalmann and partner Michelle Hupp of Falls Church, Va.; Cousins, Christopher Joseph and wife Jamie and their son Jack of New York City, Michelle Pullen and her daughter Alexis of Charlottesville, Va., Amy Joseph and her partner Vince of Boca Raton, Fla., Alyssa Thalmann of Asheville, N.C. and Ashley Oliver and her husband Cody of Crozet, Va. Additionally, he is survived by several Great Aunts and Uncles that loved him dearly.

Special thanks go to Richard Cary's Whole Foods Family that gave him confidence to succeed and excel in a job he loved and have supported us throughout this tragedy. To Chip and Pam Grobmyer, Sandy Bosselman, Preston and Janet Lee Gentry for being at our home, staying with his friends and protecting them. Thank you to Corey Bosselman, Chris Saller, Dan Martin, Alex Ferber, Mark Dyer and Will Liebenrood as his Pall Bearers and for being faithful and caring friends all his life as they carry him to his rest. Thank you to the many, many friends, family and neighbors that have supported our family during this tragic time and continue to do so. We cannot put into words how much this means to us. Thank you seems so inadequate, but will have to suffice.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, May 5, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hill and Wood Funeral Home located at 201 North First Street, Charlottesville, Va.

A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of our Saviour, 1165 Rio Road East, Charlottesville, Va. with interment following at Monticello Memory Gardens. There will be a Reception celebrating the extraordinary life of Richard Cary back at the Church of our Saviour Parish Hall.
