Jennifer J. Wingfield (Johnston) - Class Of 1993

 

Jennifer W. Johnston, 47, of Palmyra, Va., died suddenly on December 18, 2022, in the comfort of her own home.

Born on February 27, 1975, in Charlottesville, Va., she was the daughter of Wilbert and Joyce Wingfield. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Wingfield.

Jennifer went through Albemarle County schools and was accepted to attend Virginia Tech, from which she graduated in December of 1998. She was a secretary for First Christian Church, and eventually was hired as the deputy clerk for the Albemarle County School Board. Later on in her career, she was hired as the clerk of the Albemarle County School Board, a role which she held until her death. She was a loving and devoted mother, who enjoyed shopping with her girls, and having long car concerts singing to her favorite songs, some of which were "Drip" by the Migos and Cardi B, and "Bodak Yellow," which she loved to dance to. She also loved the outdoors and the smell of a campfire.

Jennifer is survived by her beloved husband, William Johnston; four beautiful children, Meaghan, Brandon, Hailey, Carson; her only grandchild, Peighton Foster; her father, Pete Wingfield; her brother, Jon and his wife, Mary Wingfield, their children, Whitney, Josh, Austin, and stepson, Gary and his wife, Brooke; her brother, Steve and his wife, Keri Wingfield, their children, Kaitlyn and Karah; along with a huge number of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

A special thanks to the Fluvanna County Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Fluvanna County Sheriff's office for doing everything they could.

Jennifer's funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2022, at First Christian Church in Keswick. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to First Christian Church, 3285 Keswick Road, Keswick, VA 22947.
