Michael Keith Morris - Class Of 1974

Michael “Mike” K. Morris of Free Union died Sunday, August 10, 2015, at his home. He was the son of the late Junior D. Morris and survived by his mother Carlene Morris of Richmond.

Mike grew up and made his home with Ed and Charlotte Haney in Free Union.

In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by his wife Jackie; his daughter Megan; his son Michael and Dannette; two godchildren: Michael Hensley, Jr. and Dana Hensley; two brothers: Jarrell and Willie; and two sisters: Patt and Linda.

Mike drove a school bus for Albemarle County for 42 years. He farmed, enjoyed wheeling and dealing, auction sales, fixing up old trucks, watching his children in their sports and 4-H, and a good game of setback. Mike was a member of the Free Union Order of Mechanics Lodge.

We want to thank the love and support of family and friends, especially Ruth, Gail, Shirley, Shelby, Kim, Carolyn M. and Carolyn H., Morgan, Janet, Melvin, Grady, Sam, and Charles, and the staff at Dr. Campbell’s office. We want to thank Dr. Bruce Campbell for his care of Mike day, night, and every weekend, his support, encouragement, always being here for Mike and his family, and most of all, his friendship. We appreciate all the Earlysville Volunteer Fire Department did for us that night.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, August 14, 2015, at 11 AM at Prize Hill Church in Boonesville, with burial to follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 13 from 6 – 8 PM at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville.

The gentlemen serving as pallbearers are Morgan Gibbs, Jim Morris, Trenton Bailey, Chris Lower, Mike Morris, and Michael Hensley, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Courtney, Grady Taylor, and David Herndon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Earlysville Volunteer Fire Company, 283 Reas Ford Rd, Earlysville, VA 22936.
