Joanne Alberta Jackson - Class Of 1973

Joanne Alberta Jackson, 60, of Crozet, Va., peacefully departed this life on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the University Of Virginia Medical Center.

Joanne was born on October 24, 1954, to the late Emma Brown Jackson and John Albert Jackson.She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lewis and Vivian Brown; one aunt, Jean B. Anderson; one brother, John Albert Jackson II; and one nephew, Daniel Jackson.

Joanne, better known as "Dody", leaves to carry out her legacy one daughter, Shamika M. Jackson of Crozet, Va. and her fiancé, Shawn C. Nichols of Charlottesville, Va.; two sisters, Vivian D. Merchant and her husband, Tim of Crozet, Va. and Cynthia E. Cooper, of Charlottesville, Va.; one brother, Harold E. Jackson of Crozet, Va.; one surviving aunt, Marian B. Collins of Crozet; two grandchildren, Lailah Y. Nichols and one unborn on the way ; two nieces, Stacy L. Coles and Emma J. Carter; two nephews, Christopher N. Coles and Christopher E. Jackson; two great nephews, Logan C. Hall and Eriq Carter; one great niece, Jasmyne Carter; a devoted friend, Debbie Barbour; and a host of other dedicated family and friends.

Joanne will most be remembered for her outspoken and bubbly personality. She loved to be the life of the party and lit up every room she walked into with her comical and uplifting demeanor. She truly loved her family and friends to the absolute fullest.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Union Mission Baptist Church, Crozet, with the Reverend John Vaughn officiating. Interment will be private.The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services.

In her blessed final days she received the utmost compassionate, dedicated, thorough, and amazing care from the staff of 4 Central at the University Of Virginia Medical Center.
