Peggy Dunn Powell, 69, of Palmyra, Va., passed away on April 17, 2024. Peggy went peacefully with family at her side.

Peggy was born on February 23, 1955, to the late Lee Jr. and Hilda Ireland Dunn. She is also preceded in death by her beloved son Jason Marshall, half-brother William Stimmell, and Grandson Chad Sponaugle.

She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years Mike Powell; Brother David Dunn; Step-Children Brandi (Brad) Kennedy; Phillip (Mary) Powell and Daughter-in-law Tracy Marshall; Grandchildren Jason, Rick, Christopher, Morgan, Nathaniel, and Jordan.

Peggy was very adventurous and loved to travel taking cruises and meeting new friends. She enjoyed camping and bluegrass festivals. Peggy also had a love for quilting and sewing. She also enjoyed spending time with her two dogs Toby and Freckles.

Peggy retired as an Executive Assistant at the UVA Curry School of Education after 35 years of devoted service. She most recently enjoyed working for the Dentistry at Nahor.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Cunningham United Church at 3389 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Palmyra, VA. The service will be officiated by Pastor Gary Osteen with a fellowship to follow in the meeting hall.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful and compassionate staff at the UVA Hospital.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
