
Michael Raymond Hunt, 71, of Scottsville, gained his heavenly wings and entered into his eternal heavenly home on July 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 19, 1953, to the late Raymond June and Pearl Elizabeth (Cason) Hunt.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandson, Jaden; and his loving siblings, James ”Boo-Boo”, Joyce, Ronnie, Edward “Pumpkin”, and Connie.
He leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Virginia; six children, Casey, Tabitha, Jason (Jenny), Leigh Ann (Tim), Michelle, and Megan; 22 grandchildren, Caitlin, Malaney, Brittany (Corey), Courtney, Teresa, Samantha, Allison, Olivia, Hannah, Tiffany (Brennan), Timothy, Taylor (Emily), Trevor, Trenton (Kirsten), Trason, Tristen, Clayton and Chloe and their father, Clayton, Malachi, Isaiah, and Isebella; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane and Lynn; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family; special friends Terrance Agee, Rodrigo Castro, Chuck Dixon, Mike Sheets, and David Roach; and special sisters and brothers in law, Norma and Reid, Brenda and David, James and Muriel.
Michael began his career as a showman at Nydrie Farm then went into business for himself when he opened Hunts Painting and Remodeling. He was a founding partner at Coast to Coast Commercial Enterprises. Michael was a life member of Scottsville Volunteer Rescue Squad where he spent many nights and weekends volunteering. He also found great joy in coaching boys baseball in both Scottsville and Fluvanna.
Michael was a deacon and devoted member of Fox Memorial Baptist Church where he enjoyed attending services and spending time on many committees. He thoroughly enjoyed working with the youth until his health kept him from attending.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Fox Memorial Baptist Church by Pastor Randy Golladay and Denise Vogt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of the Piedmont.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dad’s devoted team at Hospice of the Piedmont, his nurses (Kasie, Deb, and Ruth) as well as his amazing Chaplin Denise. They made this immensely difficult journey just a little easier.
