Margaret Ann Rohr (Fitch) - Class Of 1964

 

On Thursday, March 27, 2025, Margaret Ann Rohr Fitch passed away at Runk & Pratt Memory Care Center in Hardy, VA, after a long and brave battle with vascular disease.

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Margaret was 78. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Warner Fitch III, in 2022. The high school sweethearts were married for 56 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Craddock Fitch Folsom of Alexandria, VA; her husband, Benjamin Franklin Folsom III; their sons, Joshua Warner Folsom, William Bell Folsom, and Anderson Conway Folsom; and by her son, Peter Warner Fitch IV of Moneta, VA, and his fiancée, LaVera Bernadette. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Sam Fitch (Leslie Durgin) of Boulder, CO, and Julian Fitch of Banglamung, Chonburi, Thailand.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Dora Lee Bibb Rohr and Benjamin Conway Rohr of Charlottesville, VA, and by her brother, Gene Conway Rohr of Lovingston, VA.

A 1964 graduate of Albemarle High School, Margaret had a long and diverse career in administration, child care, bookkeeping, and software. In her late career, she was the beloved Activities Director at the Center at Belvedere, serving the senior community of Charlottesville. She was famous for hosting the annual Thanksgiving potluck at the Center, where attendance often topped 200 people.

Margaret was a longtime volunteer in the Women's Auxiliary of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad, a supporter of the Blue Ridge Border Collie Rescue, and an avid member of the Float Fishermen of Virginia. She was also a longtime member of the University Baptist Church, including the Annie Armstrong Circle. She loved live music and dancing, reading on her Kindle, working on her flower beds, and watching the birds, particularly during spring migration. Her favorite activity was anything that involved her grandsons.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on June 21, 2025, at University Baptist Church in Charlottesville, VA, with a reception to follow.
