James Edward Herring - Class Of 1964 VIEW PROFILE

 

James Edward Herring, 78, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024.

A native of Crozet, Va., he was co-owner and CEO of Niche Fabrics and a member of Christ United Methodist Church. James was very active in sports. In college he had a scholarship to William & Mary for football and also played baseball, he was a member of the Chattanooga Handball Club, coached little league baseball, soccer, and tennis. He coached at the YMCA, helped start the Karen Lawrence run for St. Jude’s and was a former member of the Chattanooga Track Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Wilmer Herring Sr. and Ethel Marie Barnett Herring.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Keith Herring; three daughters, Jenny Louise (Matt) Crews, Deborah Herring (Mark) Schaefer, and Kathleen Marie (Jarrod) Perrin; two sons, Matthew Edward (Maranda) Herring, and Logan Alexander (Kinsey) Herring; three sisters, Ruby Lei (John) Gordon, Linda Ann Tomlin and Sue Herring; two brothers, Roy Wilmer Herring Jr. and Michael Wayne (Martha) Herring; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be on Thursday, July 25, at 1:30 p.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 25, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.
