The following is a letter written by Dr. Sinervo, a colleague:

It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of Robert B. Albee, Jr., MD, the Founder Emeritus of the Center for Endometriosis Care. Affectionately known as ‘Dr. Bob,’ we honor and celebrate his remarkable life as our hearts remain with his beautiful family.

Dr Bob’s impact on the fields of endometriosis, gynecologic surgery and women's health is immeasurable, and his contributions will resonate for generations to come. His loss is deeply felt by my team and I, countless patients, and peers and colleagues all over the world who loved, admired, and respected him. He was more than just a surgeon; he was a beacon of hope for innumerable individuals who came from around the globe to be treated by him for decades.

He was both a mentor and spiritual guide for me, showing me how to be a caring, compassionate surgeon, and I can attest to the impact he had not only on my own career but on countless young surgeons who had the honor of training under him. Dr Bob understood that teaching was not just about imparting knowledge, but about inspiring passion and commitment to patient care, and his dedication to nurturing the next generation of medical professionals was unparalleled. Many of today’s skilled surgeons owe their careers to the guidance and support they received from him, and he believed in their potential even before many believed in themselves. Dr Bob inspired us all to strive for excellence while reminding us of the importance of kindness, with his tireless dedication to improving lives serving as a testament to his deep empathy and understanding.

His innovative approaches and relentless pursuit of better care transformed the landscape of women's health, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of so many. He was a true advocate for patients, always striving to ensure they received the best possible care and support. I witnessed first-hand his warm demeanor and genuine compassion in every facet of his work, and he created the legacy our Center upholds every day, where patients feel safe and cared for, treated with respect and kindness, each one feeling valued and heard.

His influence extended far beyond the walls of my Center, however; he fostered a culture of collaboration and respect among his global peers. Throughout his lifetime career, he encouraged open dialogue, shared knowledge, and celebrated the successes of others. His commitment to teamwork and community uplifted those around him, creating a supportive network that continues to thrive.

As we remember Dr. Bob, let us not only reflect on his incredible achievements but also on the values he instilled in so many of us. His legacy is one of faith, compassion, dedication, and excellence. He taught us that being a physician is not just about diagnosing and treating but about connecting with patients on a human level.

While we mourn the loss of a remarkable man, we also celebrate the profound impact he had on our lives here at the CEC and the lives of countless others in every corner of the world. Please join me in keeping his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Bob, your spirit lives on through every life you touched, every surgeon you trained, and every patient you cared for. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to improving women’s health and for being a guiding light. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

-Dr Ken Sinervo, Medical Director, Center for Endometriosis Care
