Claude Monger 82, of Crozet, Virginia, passed away on December 17, 2024, at the Richmond VA Medical Center.
Claude was born in Crozet, Virginia to Willie and Agnes Monger on August 29, 1942. He attended Albemarle High School. He married Carolyn Snoddy of Buckingham County, Virginia. He graduated from PVCC. He worked as a prototype technician for General Electric for forty-two years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was involved in playing, coaching, and umpiring softball. He also was a member of the American Legion and an Elder and Sunday School teacher with Free Union Baptist Church.
Claude is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Agnes Monger; a sister, Shirley Monger; a brother, Ted Monger; a son-in-law, Dwayne Jessee; and a grandchild, Isaiah Jessee.
Claude is survived by his wife, Carolyn Monger; a daughter, Pamela Jessee; a son, Claude Edward Monger, Jr.; and a daughter, Melanie Ellyson (Wayne); sisters, Aleene Frazier (Ben), and June Allen; grandchildren, Kaleb Jessee (Rachel Wildhaber), Benjamin Jessee, Elijah Jessee, and Joseph Ellyson.
Pallbearers will be Howard Snoddy, Tom Snoddy, Robert Wilmoth, David Frazier, Kenny Morris and Early McDaniel.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville, Va.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Free Union Baptist Church with Duane Johnson and Bill Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. A meal will be served after the interment at Free Union Baptist Church.
Memorials may be given to The Salvation Army, The American Legion, or Free Union Baptist Church.
