William-Allen Peterson - Class Of 2011

William-Allen Peterson 31 years of age, fondly referred to as "Will", resident of Charlotte North Carolina, passed away from natural causes on November 1st, 2023. Will was born in Arlington, Virginia on March 27, 1992. He is the beloved son of Pamela and Morris Peterson of Ruckersville, Virginia. Will is survived by his loving and devout wife, Catherine (Catie) Peterson (Van Slyke).

Further, William is survived by his loving brother Matthew Warren Charles Peterson, his sister-in-law Johnesa Peterson of Earlysville, Virginia, paternal Grandmother Mabel Louise Morrow and other family relations and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Gaston and Wilma Bergeret of Ruckersville Virginia and his paternal Grandfather James Peterson of Palmyra, Virginia.

William grew up attending Meadowland Elementary and Seneca Ridge Middle-School in Sterling VA. and moved to Charlottesville where he attended high school. Here he was affectionately known to his many friends as "Billy". He was a 2011 graduate of Albemarle High School, and CATEC (Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical Education Center, Virginia) where he specialized in Culinary Arts at age 15. William was awarded Associates and Bachelor of Science degrees from Johnson & Wales College of Culinary Arts joining the Class of 2017. William's ballistic culinary trajectory was truly a blessed experience and a sight to behold!

William was a dedicated and extraordinary husband, son, brother, chef, and friend to many. He was one to always make you smile and laugh. His 15-year passion for cooking was developed at a young age at the side of his mother Pamela, and both grandmothers Wilma and Louise. As the Executive Chef of Foxcroft Wine Company-Waverly, William felt the most joy in his ability to bring new culinary experiences, good food, warm smiles and wry banter to his many regulars and new customers.

"Chef Will" was an adored rising star in the Charlotte North Carolina culinary food scene, leading an awesome front and back of the house culinary teams that produced an incredible array of delicious, live wood/charcoal fired tapas dishes for many, many customers. William's memory will live on in the culinary community and in the hearts and minds of numerous culinary industry professionals and chefs he mentored. William sincerely credited his successful trajectory to his culinary mentors who cared for and guided him throughout his career, they include Chef Robert Bresson, Chef Vernon Cobb, Chef Marc Thompson, Chef David Quintana and Chef Justin Solomon. May God bless and keep each of you safe!

William was an avid outdoorsman, motor-head, shooting sports enthusiast and known to many in the 4x4 rock crawling, dirt bike and off-road racing world as "Wild Willie". He cooked many great meals out in the desert as Chef for Team 338's 4x4 off-road race team and in Virginia's Blue Ridge mountains for clients of his family's business. Here too, "Wild Willie's" heart knew no boundaries with his family, and dogs Java, Boscoe and Rocky, where he shared an innate "dog whisperer" gift with his brother Matthew. We will all dearly miss "Wild Willie", his infectious smile, positive attitude, and caring personality.

First and foremost, William was a good man, devout husband, great human being, and kind gentle spirit; a person you could go to for anything and he was always there for his friends and family. He was a soulmate, a mentor, consummate professional, a fierce friend, attentive ear and so much more. William's indominable spirit and zest for life will forever outlive his mortal being, he will be sadly missed by all he touched during his short life.
