Lewis Edward Rhodes Jr, 63, of Scottsville, died on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at his home.

He was born on October 15, 1958, in Charlottesville, the son of Myrtle (Johnson) Rhodes and the late Lewis Edward Rhodes, Sr.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Patricia Brown, and a special brother-in-law, Norman Ranson.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Sherry Jo (McDaniel) Rhodes; sons, Lee Rhodes (Kayla), Jarred Rhodes (Leah) and daughter Danielle "Sunshine" Deane (William); seven grandchildren, Owen Rhodes, Chelsea, Savannah and Will Deane, Paisley, Bailey, and Wesley Rhodes. He is also survived by his sisters, Kay Punyanitya (Pong) and Judy Foster both of Charlottesville; brothers-in-law, Russell McDaniel (Donna) of Stoney Point and Jon McDaniel (Katie) of Charlottesville, and many nieces, nephews, and a multitude of cousins.

L.E. attended First Christian Church in Keswick, Va. He started his work career at A & P Grocery Store in Charlottesville and later began working at Rhodes Exxon in Scottsville with his father. In 1989 he went to work for the Virginia Department of Forestry in Charlottesville as a Mechanic and later retired as Forestry Technician to pursue the job of his dreams as a Fly-Fishing Guide.

In his free time, L.E. enjoyed going on ride-a-bouts to scout out new waters for fishing, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying a Swisher Sweet Cigar while watching the birds and squirrels in the back yard.

The family would like to thank Dr. Erin McLoughlin and McKenzie Marshall, RN of the Sentara Oncology/Hematology Team for their ongoing love and support during this short but difficult battle.

A Celebration of Life will be held at First Christian Church, 3285 Keswick Road, Keswick VA 22947 at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022 with Pastor Cody Radar officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., and all are invited to stay for food and fellowship following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the James River Association, the Shenandoah River Keeper, or First Christian Church.
