Thomas Carroll Baber, Jr. - Class Of 1972

Thomas Carroll Baber Jr., 69, of Palmyra, Va, died on October 20, 2023, at home with his family.

Born December 17, 1953, in Albemarle, Va, he was the son of Thomas Carroll Baber Sr. and Ethel Louise Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Ethel and sister Hallie L. Frazier.

He graduated from Albemarle High School and worked at Isotemp Research and various other manufacturing facilities in and around Charlottesville as a machinist. He enjoyed square dancing and spending time with his family. He was dearly loved and is deeply missed by his wife and children.

Thomas is survived by his wife April M. Baber of Palmyra; his children, Wanda M. Lynch and her husband Adam of Palmyra, Va, Thomas A. Baber of Spokane, Washington, Ethel M. Wiersma and her husband Codi of Barboursville, Va, Theresa G. Baber of Palmyra and Lynwood N. Davis and his wife Kristi of Palmyra, Va; one grandchild, Morey T. Wiersma; three brothers, Douglas A. Baber of Louisa, Va, Leslie R. Baber and his wife Helen of Outer Banks, NC, Richard B. Baber and his wife Carol of Albemarle, Va; four sisters; Diane L. Lamb of Charlottesville, Va, Bonnie S. Frazier and her husband Nelson of Earlysville, Va, Cathy G. Davis and her partner George Graves of Charlottesville, Va, and Theresa L. Baber and her husband William Jackson of Barboursville, Va; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and special friend, Alfreda "Sis" Melvin.

The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Sawyer, Dr. Micheal Devitt, and his caretakers Lisa, Sam, and Kristen of Legacy Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Thursday October 26, 2023, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Hill and Wood Funeral home in Charlottesville.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday October 27, 2023, at Salem United Methodist Church in Palmyra, Va. with Stephen Mathis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Thomas and his family ask that memorial contributions be made to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank or Meals on Wheels.
