Mary Lynn Theresa Murray (Applegate) - Class Of 1962

 

APPLEGATE, Mary Lynn Theresa, passed away on March 20, 2023, due to rheumatoid arthritis complications. When Mary Lynn came into the world on June 5, 1944, the nurse told her mom that the Americans had just landed in Normandy, D-Day. Having grown up in a military family, Mary Lynn (known as ML by friends), spent her early years growing up around the world.

ML was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. A Mary Washington graduate. She was a substance abuse counselor, avid book-reader, painter and photographer, community volunteer, traveler, athlete, Haiti missionary and a Camino de Santiago Pilgrim.

She is survived by her husband, Steve of thirty-five years; siblings John, Sue Anne, Sally, Bill; sons, Chuck and Chris; grandchildren, Camila, Clio, Nash, Emmett, Maren; and her cat, Bella Luna. Her brother, Richard is deceased.

Mary Lynn was a warm and kind woman who will be missed by all who have ever met her.

A funeral Mass is scheduled at St. Mary's Catholic Church, on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 1 p.m., reception to follow.

She grew up in a mlitary family who moved around a lot and only spent her senior year at AHS graduating in the class of 1962. (She and Carol Townshend roomed together at Mary Washington College.) She was a substance abuse counselor, avid book reader, painter, photographer, community volunteer, traveler, athlete, Haiti missionary, and a Camino De Santiago Pilgrim. She is survived by her husband Steve of 35 years, siblings John, Sue Anne, Sally, and Bill; sons Chuck and Chris, and five grandchildren. Funeral Mass was on Saturday, April 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Richmond.
