Robert W. Kelso III - Class Of 1972

Robert "Bob" W. Kelso III, 62, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 22, 2016.

He was born on August 19, 1954, in Waynesboro, Va. to the late Robert W. Kelso, Jr. and Agnes Virginia Pleasants Kelso.He was predeceased by his infant granddaughter, Mary Faith Walker.

Though he was born in Waynesboro, Bob was raised in Crozet, Va.

As a child he was an accomplished baseball player. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and he loved going out on the boat and waterskiing. He graduated from Albemarle High School and continued his education at PVCC, earning his Associates Degree in Business. This would serve him well not only as a manager at Southern States, but in his many occupational endeavors throughout his life.

In his recent years, he had a passion for home improvement and gardening. He was never without a project around the house. Bob was a member of Covesville Baptist Church. Prior to this, he was a member of Living Stones Ministries, where he served in the bus ministry for the homeless and participated in the motorcycle ministry. Bob often stated, "It's up to us to spread the Word. It's up to God to spread the Spirit."

Left to cherish his memory are his former wife, Sandy Kelso, who remained his pastor, best friend, and spiritual companion; daughter, Rachel Walker (Robert); granddaughters, Alexis and Haley Walker; step daughter, Renee Lewis and her five children, including Ayumi (his guardian angel); sisters, Connie Kelso and Ruby Hutchinson (Martin); brother Mike Kelso (Diane); nieces, Brooke Young and Samantha Burch; nephews, Michael Wayne Kelso, Nick Hutchinson, and Bryan Kelso; and a host of other family and friends.

A celebration of life gathering for family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Covesville Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m.

Everyone who spent time with Bob during the last few months witnessed the Spirit of the Lord working through him. He knew without a doubt that Jesus had prepared his room, where he would take residence and be complete.
