Jesse M. Hicks A memorial service for Jesse Morgan Hicks of Palmyra will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014, at Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church on Route 620 in Scottsville. A private interment will be held at a later date.

Jesse was born on July 15, 1957, in Tampa, Florida, the son of the late Micajah A. Hicks, Jr. and Peggy (Davis) Hicks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Micajah Matthew Hicks, and a niece, Elizabeth Anne Ballard.

Jesse grew up in Charlottesville and graduated from Albemarle High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a self-employed truck driver and farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Haislip) Hicks; his daughters, Ashley Jean Hicks and Melissa Sue Waycaster; a granddaughter, Sydney Morgan Breeden; three sisters, Lorna Williams and husband, Kenny, Margaret Ballard and husband, Daniel, and Audria Hicks; a brother, Nelson Hicks; nieces and nephews, Matthew and Kyle Williams, John Daniel and Jennifer Ballard, Stephanie, Michael, and Kevin Hicks; and numerous great-nieces and nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
