Susan Whitted Burruss

Susan Whitted Burruss, 52, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Duke Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.

She was born on June 22, 1959, in Charlottesville, Virginia, the daughter of Thomas M. Burruss and Margaret W. Burruss.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Kay Jedlica and her two sons, Grant M. Bates and Justin C. Bates; a brother, B. Marshall Burruss and his wife, Kelly C. Burruss and their two children, Benjamin L. Burruss and Casey L. Burruss. She is also survived by her companion of many years, Dick Albert.

Sue was a graduate of Albemarle High School and James Madison University and owned and operated a State Farm agency in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was an avid lover of dogs and Myrtle Beach.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the medical staff of Duke Medical Center especially, Dr. Rex Cheng.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the University Baptist Church, 1223 West Main Street, Charlottesville, Virginia, with the Reverend Tom Leland officiating. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
