In Memory

Claudia Marie Haynes (McRay) - Class Of 1964

Claudia Haynes McRay passed away on September 13, 2017.

The following is a note sent by Sheila regarding Claudia's death:

I just received a call from Claudia’s son, Bryan, with the sad news that Claudia passed away on Wednesday.
She has had bad health for years (beginning as a child with a controversial treatment of prolonged Xray).  Recently, she changed doctors and underwent a series of tests.  This doctor discovered that she had heart trouble, and installed a couple of stents about a month ago.  She was wearing a vest which sensed her heart rhythm, and on Wednesday she fainted, and the vest sensed that her heart had stopped, and shocked her enough so that she regained consciousness.  She was, of course, incensed that the vest had shocked her, so she took it off.  Before doing that she called her son and told about the incident.  He immediately called an ambulance and headed over to her house, only to be too late.  She suffered another incident, perhaps a heart attack, and was gone when her son and the ambulance reached her.

She had moved to Richmond about three years ago to be closer to her family.  Bryan said that she did not want a service, and that maybe there would be a memorial in a few months.  I told him that the high school reunion brunch was coming up at the end of October, and that I would pass on the news to everyone.  She came to the last reunion, and had such a wonderful time seeing old classmates.  Some of you will remember that she was the shy girl who worked in the office at school part time.
