Holland B. Garth Jr.

Holland Birckhead Garth Jr., 64, of Charlottesville, died on Saturday, June 13, 2009, in a local hospital.

Born July 7, 1944, in Alexandria, Virginia, he was the son of Virgie Peregoy Garth and the late Holland B. Garth Sr.

Holland was a machine operator for Liberty Fabrics in Gordonsville, had served in the United States Navy and was an avid Pool player who loved cats, especially his two cats, Katy and Gus. He enjoyed dining out at restaurants such as Fox's and Tip Top. He also loved to watch the History channel.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Catherine Garth of Charlottes- ville; three sisters, Phyllis Cason of Charlotteville, Cornelia Swann and her husband, Richard, of Fort White, Florida and Charlotte Garlic and her husband, Bill, of Charlottesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends special thanks to Tim and Debbie McKeon for their special friendship and for being such good neighbors.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at the Mount View Baptist Church with the Reverend David Hallingshead officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
