Mary Beth Haney, 68, of Charlottesville, died on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Charlottesville Health and Rehab surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on October 27, 1943, the daughter of the late Margaret Gentry Payne and her husband Meredith "Red" Payne.

Mary Beth retired from the University of Virginia as a nursing supervisor, mentor and great friend to many after 27 years of service. She will forever be remembered for her warm smile, her great generosity and welcoming everyone of all ages as part of her family. We will always cherish those wonderful times spent with Mary Beth doing the things that she liked most - spending time with family and friends, and enjoying the warm sand and ocean breeze with Jimmy Buffett playing in the background.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Haney and her fiance'‚, Scott Jenkins, and his son, Brett; one sister, Sallie Payne Slater; nieces, Evette and her husband, Philip, and Amanda and her fiance'‚, Michael; nephew, Andrew and his fiance', Caitlin; great-nieces and great-nephews, Sophia, Alex, Connor and Freya; and her many friends from the University of Virginia Medical Center.

A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, at the Teague Chapel with Dr. Wayne Bernado officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012, at the Teague Funeral Home.
