She was born on September 6, 1939, and resided in Albemarle County for the majority of her life.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Paul W. Yowell.

Shirley's family was her world. She was so proud of her three beautiful daughters, Kimball Maynard, Kathy Rohm, and Kristina Pitts, and loved them with a passion. Her love extended to her wonderful sons-in-law, Gregory Maynard, Jeffrey Rohm, and Rob Pitts. She cherished her three handsome grandsons and their wives, Brett Michael Maynard and his wife, Olivia, Andrew Paul Maynard and his wife, Brittany, and Austin Rolla Rohm. Her three princess granddaughters, McKenna Annette Rohm, Grace Marie Pitts, and Anna Elizabeth Pitts were the apples of her eye. She was their biggest fan and cheerleader. Shirley had three great-granddaughters, Brynn McKinley Maynard, Reese Caroline Maynard, and Ella Lee Maynard who brought much joy and laughter into her life. She is also survived by a special sister, Brenda Fielding; sisters, Eleanor Thomas and Tina Bartley, and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. Her close friends, Wanda Rasnake, Sharon Miller, Betty Loving, and Joyce Pattison held a special place in her heart.

She was predeceased by her parents, brother, and a beloved niece, Sheri Ann Ford.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Bruce Campbell, Dr. Francis Ansa, and nurses Felicia Martin, Victor Somers, and Troy White, as well as the other doctors and staff that cared for her during her stay at Martha Jefferson Hospital.
