Norman McAllister, 84, of Palmyra, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at his home.

Born in White Hall, Virginia, Norman was the son of the late George Lee and Mittie Pearl McAllister.

Norman graduated from Albemarle High School followed by a 42-year career with AT&T where he made lifelong friends. He loved gardening, square-dancing, swimming, and jogging; and was a passionate and talented "tinkerer" – loving small engine repair. He had a deep love of music and played the harmonica. Gentle, fun-loving, and patient, he was liked by everybody and tried (had a knack for) remembering everybody's name.

In addition to his parents, Norman is preceded in death by his brothers Herbert and Patrick, and sister, Mary Lee McAllister.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis of 34 years; sister, Joyce Hatchett of Crozet; three children- Sid McAllister and wife Becky of Charlottesville, Virginia; daughter, Fawnda Batchelor and husband James (Jimi) of South Florida, son Mike Davis and wife Kathy McCutcheon of Buckingham, Virginia; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and his special sisters-in-law: Connie Painter, Lindsay Kidd, and Terry Herndon.

The family will receive friends at Thacker Brothers Lake Monticello Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 26th beginning at 1 p.m. The service will be at 2 p.m. officiated by Pastor Colleen Swingle-Titus of Park Street Christian Church. A private family graveside service will immediately follow.
