Samuel Patteson Clarke (1966)
Born April 4, 1953, in Bronx, N.Y., and raised in Long Island, N.Y. and South River, N.J. Bill was the only son of Edward and Florence Hinek, who now reside in Richmond. Bill received his undergraduate degree in Psychology/Sociology and Special Education, and Master's Degree in Vocational/Special Needs from Glassboro State College in N.J. His vocation in life was to help others, specifically as a provider of career and transition services for special needs students as an educator and liaison with state agencies and community-based services. He was former President, Virginia Association of Vocational Education/Special Needs Personnel; Board member, Virginia Association for Career and Technical Education; member of numerous committees with the Virginia Transition Forum; Regional Vice President, New Jersey Association of Vocations Education/Special Needs Personnel; Career and Transitional Specialist at Albemarle High School; and Summer School Principal for Albemarle and adjoining counties. He was very involved with the Regional Multiple Sclerosis Society. Besides his parents, Bill is survived by his wife of 28 years, Anne G. Hinek (nee Clements); daughter, Emily Katherine Hinek; and son, Edward Dennis Hinek; sister, Joanne McLaughlin and husband, Roy; mother-in-law, Emily Gordon; and father-in-law, Jack Clements; sisters-in-law, Amanda Butler and husband, John, Ruth Greer and husband, Kevin; brother-in-law, J. Brian Clements and wife, Kathleen; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Hinek family wishes to specially thank the faculty, staff, and students of Albemarle High School for their kindness and support. Also, Dr. Bergen and the staff of 4 East at UVA Hospital for their kindness and compassion - no better group of professionals exist anywhere.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m., March 20, in the Albemarle High School auditorium. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the UVA Cardiopulmonary Transplant Unit, Attn: Angie Korsun, Hospital Box 800191, Charlottesville, Va. 22901. Sheridan Funeral Home of Kents Store in charge of arrangements.
