Carol "Estelle" Norford (Towler) - Class Of 1960

Estelle known as Carol Norford Towler died Sept 1, 2016, of Heart Failure and Cancer.

She grew up in the Stony Point area, the Norford farm was the next farm adjacent to the "Piedmont" old Goss house/farm. I remember her saying Leonard Sandridge was a class mate or hers is why I think she graduated from Albemarle in 1960.

She married George Wm Collier and had one son, George Wm Collier, Jr. known as Sonny. Her second marriage after George's death was to Sam Towler (class of 1973).

She worked at the Michie Publishing Co. and various later owners the last being Lexis Nexus. She was the secret Plaintiff in the Federal investigation of Lexis Nexus which established overtime to all proofreaders of the company who for years had been wrongly classified as exempt to overtime laws. All proofreaders at the company were required to be paid overtime by her actions and the federal government. She never wanted her age given out and always looked younger but was in her mid 70s when she passed.

She asked for no obituary or funera,l and she was buried at Chesnut Grove Baptist church Earlysville.

Her grandmother was an Early, a sister of Dr. Early, and her Douglass family was the last of the Early descendants to live at Guildford farm, now a subdivision in Greene Co.

Submitted by Sam Towler, husband.
