Dale Hiawatha Kirby went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2022. He was born on January 1, 1950, in Charlottesville, to the late James and Mae D. Kirby. He was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Bernard Farish Jr. and David Proffitt; and beloved father-in-law, Bernard C. Farish.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Glenda; a beloved mother-in-law, Betty C. Farish; one sister, Deloris Proffitt; two wonderful children, Jimmy Kirby (Tabatha) and Niki Snow (Bobby Jr.); his grandchildren, David Osika (Lindsay), Gage Snow, and Rylee Snow; one great-grandson, Christian, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dale worked for UVA for over 40 years as a printer. He loved his church family and served in many ministries.

The family extends a special thanks to family and friends, also a very special thanks to Dr. Kenan Yount and the nursing staff at UVA 4 West.

Visitation will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, followed by the funeral service at Effort Baptist Church, 7820 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Palmyra, VA 22963, with the Reverend Ben Jamison and Jason Bird officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Charlottesville, Va.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Effort Baptist Church, 7820 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy., Palmyra, VA 22963, or Blue Ridge Mobile Food Pantry, 1207 Harris St., Charlottesville, VA 22903.
