Steve A. Chilstrom - Class Of 1997

Sergeant Steve Ayner Chilstrom, 42, of Greene County, Va., passed away peacefully at the University of Virginia hospital on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Steve was a decorated United States Army veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and spent eight years on active duty.

Steve was born on July 3, 1979, in Virginia, Minnesota, to parents Sheldon Ayner Chilstrom and Cynthia Ann Clites. Steve graduated Albemarle High School and joined the Army in 1997.

Steve worked and trained at Black Belt Success Academy for several years and enjoyed martial arts, motorcycles and spending time with his family. Steve will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Steve was predeceased by his mother and father, Cynthia Ann Clites and Sheldon Ayner Chilstrom; grandmother, Winnifred Ann Thornber and grandfather James Earl Clites. Steve is survived by his wife, Jaime Herring Chilstrom; his daughter, Madeline Ann and son, Joseph Lee; uncle, Jeff Clites and his wife, Hajeong; cousins, Lawton Clites and his wife, M.J. Clites, Beth Clites Sawyer, her husband, Jesse and their children, Charlotte and David; mother and father-in-law, Gwen and Dwight Herring; sister-in-law, Meaghan Herring Gibson and her husband, Jesse Gibson and their daughters, Sophie, Isabella and Aubrey; and godsons, Westly Roberts and Sean Demmer.

We request that all of Steve's loved ones join us in celebrating his beautiful life at the Church of Our Saviour, Charlottesville, Va, 2 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022.
