In Memory

William K. Hayward - Class Of 1998

William "Kevin" Hayward, 41, of Charlottesville, went to be with our Heavenly Father on August 29, 2021.

Kevin was a strong and heroic man who fought a long and fierce battle. To know Kevin was to know strength, determination, and a heart he offered for anyone at any time.

Kevin valued his friends and family more than anything in this world and wanted them to know he loved and remembered every one of them. Though Kevin could not be with his friends in the same way, his love for them never wavered. His lifelong friends Bernard, BJ, Zach, Nate L, Shane, Nate R., Caleb, Jenny, Eric, Joe G., George and so many more. He wanted you all to know that he loved you and thought of you often.

His passions included the Redskins, Yankees and Capitals, but his biggest passion was his saltwater fish and corals, and his many reptiles and animals.

Kevin and his family wanted to be sure to thank his doctor Andrew Wolf M.D. and Sara, as well as the UVA MICU team, his respiratory therapist Karen and his nurse Gail Truslow, all of whom made his last 12 years on earth better.

Kevin loved his family with all his heart. Kevin was survived by his grandmother, Lola; mother, Brenda; father, Billy; sister, Angie; brother-in-law, Scott; nieces, Bella and Olivia; nephew, Hayden, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandmother, Adelaide Hayward; grandfather, William Hayward; beloved uncles, Thomas Gaulding and Tommie Shifflett; and cousin, Robbie Decatur.

A graveside service will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 10 a.m.
