In Memory

Robert Wayne Maupin - Class Of 1978

Robert Wayne Maupin, 60, of Esmont, passed away on September 26, 2020 while surrounded by his family.
Robbie was born on February 10, 1960, in Albemarle County, Virginia, to the late Raymond Maupin and Daisy May (Goolsby) Maupin. After graduating from Albemarle High School, where he played football, Robbie spent most of his career in carpentry with R.D. Wade Homes. After a necessary career change for medical reasons, Robbie spent nearly a decade in service with Jim Price Automotive, where he made countless friends and memories.

Above all else, Robbie was known for his laugh and his ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face. He enjoyed watching Nascar, football, and had most Westerns practically memorized. He and his wife spent many nights watching crime shows, like “Blue Bloods” and “Hawaii 5-O,” while enjoying each other's presence. He showed his love for others through the gift of his time and helped more than a few friends and family members build their houses, decks, or garages from the ground up. His grandchildren held a large amount of his heart. He could often be seen helping them with homework, giving them rides on the lawn mower, or just playing jokes to make them giggle.

In addition to his father, Robbie had a heavenly reunion with his nephew, Justin Allen Maupin, and, his in-laws, Glen Rex Spencer and Frances Ann Spencer.
Those left behind to carry on his memory are his mother, Daisy Maupin of North Garden; his wife Penny Maupin of Esmont; his brother, Cecil Maupin and sister-in-law, Patty Maupin; his daughters, Casey Tracy and husband, Chuck Tracy of Esmont, and Tory Maupin-Siler and husband, Craig Siler of Charlottesville. Additionally, he will be greatly missed by four adoring grandchildren, Blake Franklin Tracy, Nevaeh Anne Tracy, Robert Samuel Siler, and Charlotte “Charli” Rose Siler. Robbie also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends. Last but not least, he will be greatly missed by his loyal four-legged companion, Carter.

A graveside service for family and friends will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Alberene Church Cemetery in North Garden. Sandy Fewell will be officiating. Due to the current health crisis, those who would like to attend should wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to the Sentara Martha Jefferson Oncology Center in honor of Robbie’s courageous fight. The family would also like to thank Dr. Mark Prichard and the dedicated staff and volunteers from Sentara Martha Jefferson Oncology Center, without whom Robbie’s fight would not have been possible.
