Kenneth V. Hunt Jr., 67, of Charlottesville, Va, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, with his loving family by his side.

Ken was born March 1, 1954, to Kenneth “Mote” V. Hunt and Dorothy “Dot” B. Hunt in Charlottesville, Va. He was a graduate of Albemarle High School and went on to work in the Charlottesville area as a HVAC technician, electrician and plumber.

He enjoyed living in the country, hunting, fishing, gardening, and fixing anything that needed fixing. He had a great love for animals, and due to his calm demeanor, animals always loved him.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Luther M. and Ruby M. Hunt; and his maternal grandparents Julian P. and Myrtle H. Batten.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Suzanne Cason Hunt; daughter, Heather Black, her husband Chris; daughter, Kristen Hunt; grandchildren, William and Emma Black; sister, Kay Gillispie, her husband Ron; mother-in-law, Frances Cason; brothers-in-law, Wayne Cason and Larry Cason and his wife Chris; as well as his aunts, uncles and extended family members.

A special thank you to the many people that cared for Ken during his long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy: Austin from ACAC PT; Missy as his in-home caregiver; Sharon, Ponia, Sarah and nursing staff from Sentara Home Health; and Hospice of the Piedmont.

The family is extremely grateful for his longtime friendship with Jimmy Townsend, the support of Rev. Greg Anderson, and prayers from the church family of Belmont Baptist Church.

Family night will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Hill and Wood Funeral Home on Sunday, December 19, 2021.
