Michael Calvin Hall - Class Of 1971

Michael Calvin Hall, 70, of Stony Point, Va., passed away peacefully at home on December 29, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. Mike was born July 30, 1953, in Charlottesville, Va. A proud Virginian, he grew up in Crozet, Va., graduated from Albemarle County High School and attended the University of Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents Shirley and Calvin Hall; his grandparents Helen and George Wilmer Hall and Mary and Russell Critzer.

Mike was very proud of his family and is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marlaine May Hall; their sons, Charles (Charlie) and Andrew (Andy); daughter-in-law, Amy Roder Hall; and two granddaughters, Klara and Cassidy; his sister and brother-in-law, Sharron and Dave Frazier; nephew Sam Frazier, his wife Brooke and their sons, Hampton and Rowan. Mike also leaves behind numerous other family and friends whom he loved dearly.

Mike had a long career in the HVAC field and would proudly point out the numerous businesses and residences he had worked on, always sharing a great story about the job.

Mike loved music and musicians. He and Marlaine could be found at the "rail" singing along with the band even if they did not know the words. He would stand at the stage to "see what kind of shoes" the musicians were wearing but really to watch them perform. Mike would tell people to "buy the ticket, buy the merch, slip 'em a fifty, take care of the band" and practiced this himself.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held on January 27, 2024, at the Stony Point Ruritan Club, 2835 Watts Passage, Charlottesville, VA, at 2 p.m. The family asks that you wear your favorite tie dye, band t-shirt or a light blue button-down collar shirt (the uniform).

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Stony Point Volunteer Fire Department, 3827 Stony Point Road, Charlottesville, VA, or that you buy concert tickets to help support musicians.

Condolences may be shared with his family at www.hillandwood.com.
