Francis Nott (Frank) Bain - Class Of 1964

Dr. Francis "Frank" Nott Bain, 75, of Crozier, Va., passed away at his home January 25, 2022.

He is survived by his three children, Mark (Mindy) Bain of Midlothian, Christopher Bain of Cabin John, Md. and Rebecca Bain of Richmond; and by his six grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Daniel Bain of Charlottesville, Edward Bain of Batesville and George (Nancy) Bain of Athens, Ohio; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Frank was born May 25, 1946, in Charlottesville, the tenth and youngest child of Edward H. and Katherine K. Bain.

He graduated from Albemarle High School in 1964. He attended Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam as a 1st Lieutenant. He finished his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia and earned an M.D. from the Medical College of Virginia in 1977.

Frank entered private medical practice in Goochland, Va., in 1980, retiring in June 2021. For many of his patients, this building next to the Goochland Courthouse was the only doctor's office they visited in their entire lives. Frank mirrored this commitment, as his medical practice was his life's passion.

Close behind medicine was his passion for the University of Virginia basketball and football teams. Aside from cheering for the Cavaliers, Frank spent much of his leisure time playing golf and race walking.

A reception is planned for March 5, 2022, at Eccoti, 1940 Sandy Hook Rd., Ste. A, Goochland, Virginia 23063, from 12 to 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Alzheimer's Association, Greater Richmond Chapter, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
