Wilmer Eugene Marsh - Class Of 1961

Wilmer Eugene Marsh, 78, of Stanardsville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Born in Albemarle County, on February 11, 1942, he was the son of the late Wilmer T. Marsh and Sadie B. Hunt Marsh of Crozet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James David Marsh and Donald Wayne Marsh.

Wilmer is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Morris Marsh; his daughter, Kimberly Marsh Mesa and her husband, Patrick, of Wilmington, Del.; his daughter, Tonya Marsh Campbell and her husband, Chris, of Glen Allen, Va.; his sister, Shirley Ann Small; and his five grandchildren, Riley Campbell, Deacon Campbell, Sydney Mesa, Alexandra Mesa, and Madeleine Mesa.

Wilmer was a man of faith and a dedicated husband, father, Pop Pop, and brother. He is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. After graduating from Albemarle High School, he worked in printing most of his career, including several years as Printing Director at The National Legal Research Group in Charlottesville. After retiring from printing, he enjoyed his next role of bus driver for Albemarle County Schools. He was a long-time member of Maple Grove Christian Church where he served as deacon and treasurer. Wilmer was hard-working, loyal and loving. He loved his family, children, furry children (also known as dogs), Christmas and cars. At times a big kid himself, with a strong sense of humor, he could often be found with a sly, almost mischievous, smile. He was a rock for his family, a strong protector who was simultaneously kind and gentle. Wilmer was admired and loved by many and will be greatly missed until we meet again.

Private funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021, at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. Pastor Lindsay Ellis will officiate.
