Shirley McAllister Melton, 78, of Ruckersville, Virginia, passed away suddenly in the early morning hours on Monday, January 14, 2019, at Center for Acute Hospice Care, Charlottesville.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Frank. She was also preceded in death by parents, "Cherry" and Violet McAllister; and brother, Avis.

She is survived by her brother, Greg McAllister and wife, Lee, of Stanardsville; brother, "Sonny" McAllister and wife, Marie, of Barboursville; her nieces, Wendy Rogers of Stanardsville, Kathy Dorman of Charlottesville, and Ginnie Fields of Richmond; nephew, Billy Fields and his wife, Bev, of Barboursville; and numerous other family and friends.

Shirley and Frank traveled extensively with good friends JoAnn and Frank. She never knew a stranger. Shirley made everyone feel special- spoiling us all with her home cooking, thoughtful gifts, and phone calls. She will be missed by so many.

Thank you to special friends Rose, Susan, Rodney, Sterlon and Mary. The family also wishes to thank Greene Co Rescue Squad, the staff of Sentara ER, UVa ER and Center for Acute Hospice Care.

At Shirley's request, there will be no services.
