Robert "Bob" Allen Harmon, of Earlysville, age 80, passed away on February 14, 2023.

Bob was born on March 11, 1942, to the late Lewis Eldridge Harmon and Virginia Frazier Harmon Burgess.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Bailey and brothers, Lewis and David Harmon. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Harmon; his sisters, Loretta Pirkey of Escondido, California, and Alice Forloines of Chesterfield, Virginia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob graduated from Albemarle High School in 1960 and began his employment with State Farm Insurance in Charlottesville where he started in the mail room and retired from an executive position some 40 years. While employed at State Farm, Bob continued his education receiving a Bachelor's Degree from Illinois State University in Communications. Bob was known as a mentor throughout his tenure with State Farm assisting employees with their own careers. Bob also served in the United States Marine Corps.

Bob returned to Albemarle County after retirement to be closer to family and friends. He loved life and his family and friends. He made friends wherever he went and sincerely cared about people. He had a smile and a positive attitude for everyone he met. Bob also enjoyed fast cars and especially working on and restoring corvettes. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., located at 550 Buck Mountain Road, Earlysville, VA 22936. A private, family burial service will be held at Mooreland Baptist Church in North Garden. Donations in his honor can be made to Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
