Scott Mckellar Cox II - Class Of 2016

Scott McKellar Cox II,  known to family and friends as McKellar, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017.

Born November 26, 1997, in Charlottesville to Amy Boyer Cox and Scott McKellar Cox, McKellar was loved dearly by his family and a host of friends.

He was a 2016 graduate of Albemarle High School and a rising sophomore at Christopher Newport University. With his beaming smile and gregarious demeanor, he was always generous with his time and energy to lend a helping hand, whether it was a shoulder for a friend or ubering his brothers and sister whenever and wherever he was needed. Posts on his Facebook page from friends and CNU Captain classmates affirm the impact he had on their lives with his kindness, compassion, and encouragement.

A talented musician, McKellar would spontaneously pick up his guitar and play for those around him. He often composed and recorded his own material and would perform impromptu jam sessions for Will, Claire, Luke and his "Pappy" Boyer.

McKellar's best buddy and his rock was his dad. They loved spending time outdoors fishing and hunting together. They shared a good-natured and playful sense of humor, and could hold entire conversations via text using memes and emojis! Having deep, loving conversations with his mom had special meaning for him. McKellar had a deep love and felt great comfort from his "Mimi" Boyer.

He enjoyed goofing around with his brothers, sister and pals, hiking with siblings and friends, traveling and enjoying holidays with his extended family. He was enthusiastic about exercising and was especially passionate about history. He was strong in his faith.

McKellar was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Robert Lee Cox and maternal grandfathers, Charles Robert Boyer and Anthony Jude Brian.

Those left to mourn him are his mother, Amy Cox-Klapperich and her husband, Kerry James Klapperich; father, Scott McKellar Cox and his wife, Beth "B-Diddy" Duffy Cox; siblings, Claire, Will and Luke "Little Man" Cox. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Judith Anne Boyer of Charlottesville; paternal grandmother, Carolyn Bolton Cox of Hampton, Virginia; step-grandmother, Joel McDonald Cox of Avon, Colorado; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends whom he loved with all his heart.

Funeral service will be held at Church of Our Saviour, 1165 Rio Road East, Charlottesville, Virginia, Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 11 a.m.
