Jennie Casey (Blankenship) - Class Of 1973

Jennie Casey Blankenship, 60, of Charlottesville, departed this Earth to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at her home surrounded by family and friends.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she was born February 3, 1954, in Pineville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Reverend Virgil W. Casey, Sr. and Jeannette Buell Casey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Casey and a sister, Carlene Casey.

Jennie’s family moved to Hampton, VA where she grew up in the church and on the sandy beach of Buckroe. She eventually moved to Charlottesville where she married and started a family. She retired from the American Red Cross in September of 1996, a job she thoroughly enjoyed and where she touched so many lives.

She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Donald Blankenship; a daughter, Julie Bunch and her husband John; four grandchildren, Ashley Burgess and her fiancé, Rodderick Kirby, Cory Burgess and his fiancée, Jessica Pugh, Jonathan Bunch and Timothy Bunch; three beautiful great-grandchildren, Jordin and Aubree Burgess and Isaiah Kirby, all of Charlottesville; two brothers, Virgil Casey, Jr. and his wife Cathy of Covesville and Samuel Casey of Charlottesville; a sister, Darlene Casey Beeghly of Charlottesville; a sister-in-law, Lorie Lickliter and her husband Ken of Orange; a very special friend, Harry Clatterbuck; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Those who were blessed to have known her know she loved life, her family and friends and how her presence and smile lit up a room.

A well-deserved thank you to the staff at Hospice of the Piedmont for their warmth and compassion.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 21, 201 at the Teague Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Teague Chapel with Pastor Larry Wingfield officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy, suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22191.
