We honor George Elwood Hall on our Albemarle High School Alumni Association website for his many years of service in the Albemarle County educational program, his service to our country and our community.  I am   looking at the 1948-1949 Broadus Wood High School Echoes Yearbook which was dedicated by the Senior Class to George Elwood Hall.   It reads a follows:

                                                            DECICATION PAGE

                                                       GEORGE ELWOOD HALL

In appreciation of his patient understanding
and never failing guidance, we the Senior Class
of '49, wish to dedicate this, our yearbook, to our
                                         teacher, Mr. Elwood Hall.

Mr. Hall was a true friend to all.  In the 1948 - 1949 school year Mr. Hall was a teacher, the boys basketball coach, baseball coach and was the sponsor of the Echoes Staff.  Mr. Hall would later become Principal at Broadus Wood and was at Jack Jouett.  He was also Assistant Superintendent for Albemarle County Public Schools. He wrote in my Aunt's Echoes,  "It has been nice knowing you and your pleasant ways during the past three years.  I hope you much happiness and success as a future nurse.

Sincerely
Elwood Hall"

I was a young boy but remember Mr. Hall being nice to everyone.  He served our country in the United States Army during World War II and again in the Korean War.

I attended Broadus Wood Elementary School from 1953-1960.  Mr. Hall was a kind and generous man.  I remember as a child how he included everyone.  He was a dedicated man to education.
