Allen Dudley - Class Of 1958


Allen Davis Dudley, 72, of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at home surrounded by loving family members.

He was a loving, devoted husband, father, Pop Pop, brother, and friend. There were no strangers to him. He loved playing Bingo, helping others, and watching his two grandchildren playing sports and bowling.

He was retired from the United States Army Reserves, where he served 29 years and he retired from University of Virginia Facilities Management.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Margaret Dudley; brothers, Winifred "Winkie" and George; and by his niece, Linda McAllister.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, JoAnne Marsh Dudley. He is also survived by his only child, Hope Dudley Wood and husband, Randy, of Charlottesville. He also leaves behind the apple of his eyes, his two grandchildren, Tanner and Hayley; two special great- nieces, Reagan and Rachel Allen of Waynesboro, Virginia; brothers, Cosby and wife, Alice, of Saluda, North Carolina, Joe and wife, Ruth, of Scottsville, Virginia, Charles and wife, Shirley, of Waynesboro, Virginia, James and wife, Kathy, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; one sister, Violet Harding of Crozet, Virginia; a special sister-in-law, Marjorie Dudley of Waynesboro, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Franklin Marsh of San Antonio, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the many neighbors of the Minor Ridge Community for their support, especially Johanna, Russell, and Janice. Special thanks to friends Mary Ann and Todd Rhoads; sister-in-law, Ruth Dudley; and niece, Melissa Bradfield. The family expresses a sincere thank you to the staff and volunteers of the Hospice of the Piedmont and Chaplain Greg Compton. We would also like to thank everyone for the prayers throughout the last two years - God is good.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at Teague Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville, Virginia. Friends may sign the guest register at teaguefuneralhome.com.
