Barbara Jean Critzer (McMullen) - Class Of 1966

Barbara Jean Critzer McMullen departed this life on July 2, 2018, and is now singing a lovely alto with all the angels in the heavenly choir.

She was born on May 28th, 1948 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. to parents Mary and Frank Critzer. She was the youngest of six children.

She married Frank McMullen at Jefferson Park Baptist Church in 1969 and was later a proud graduate with honors from Piedmont Virginia Community College.

Barbara loved to read, travel, sing, attend plays, cruise, and visit the beach.  Her great joy was singing, and she took part in the church choir as well as the contemporary Christian singing group Spirit Bound.  She was a marvelous cook and dedicated caregiver to her family.  She enjoyed a long and successful career in the banking industry in Charlottesville, from which she retired in 2009.

Her surviving family includes her husband of 48 years, Frank; two children, John and Emily; four grandchildren Dylan, Eli, Claire, and Henry; as well as a sister and brother Lavern and Curtis, in addition to many nieces and nephews.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff of both Commonwealth Senior Living and the Charlottesville Pointe Rehab and Health for their dedicated and thoughtful dementia care during Barbara’s stay in both facilities.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Legacy Hospice, 500 Faulconer Dr. #100, Charlottesville, VA 22903, or First United Methodist Church, 101 E. Jefferson St, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

Burial will be private with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:30 PM Thursday, July 12, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, Charlottesville.
