Helen Geneva Herring went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 16, 2013, after many extended illnesses.

She was born on June 13, 1936.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Ashton L. Herring of Stanardsville; one daughter, Karron H. Lambert of Chesapeake, Virginia; and one grandson, Bryan J. Lambert of Norfolk, Virgiia. She loved her little family very very much.

She was the daughter of the late Jesse J. and Leanna Knight Shiflett of Earlysville.

She leaves many good friends that helped her in so many ways. She was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church and former member of Pine Ridge Church of the Brethren. She loved her church families at Bethel and Pine Ridge. She loved to play the piano and sing gospel songs and the old hymns of the church.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Bruce Kellams, Dr. Christopher Friend, Dr. Gregory Pudhorodsky, Dr. William Hammond and their staff members for all their care and concerns. A special thank you to nurses, Amy Lawson and Julie Kaufman.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2013, and service at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, Burnley and Watts Roads, Albemarle County, with interment in Pine Ridge Church Cemetery. Pastor Wendall Lamb and Pastor Josh Shifflett will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to Bethel Baptist Church, Missionary Fund, P.O. Box 250, Quinque, VA 22965.

Preddy Funeral Home in Madison, is in charge of arrangements.
