Florine C. Ward, 52, of Palmyra, died Monday, August 28, 2006, at home with her husband.

She was born May 17, 1954, in Rushmere, Virginia, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Cypress. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine Graves.

She was a loving mother and devoted wife and a faithful Christian witness. She taught in the Williamsburg school system for 20 years and also four years as a special education teacher at Albemarle High School. She was a district missionary for Staunton District Church of God in Christ. She was a member of Bethel Church of God in Christ in Charlottesville.  

Survivors include her husband, William Ward Jr. of Palmyra; one daughter, Nykia Ward of Delaware; two sons, William Ward III of Palmyra and Ramon Ward of Palmyra; three brothers, five sisters, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 8 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2006, at Bethel Church of God in Christ at 621 Dice Street. (434-977-6447).

A memorial service will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2006, at the Bethel Church of God in Christ at 621 Dice Street.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at St. John's Church of God in Christ, 2416 Orcutt Avenue, Newport News. Interment will be at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veteran's Cemetery at Hampton Roads, 5310 Milner's Road, Suffolk.

O.H. Smith Funeral Home of Newport News is handling arrangements.
