Jeanne Meredith (Busse)

Jeanne Meredith Busse, of Charlottesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

Born on February 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Hal James Meredith and Nola Kathryn Thurman Meredith of Waynesboro. Also predeceasing her, is her beloved husband, Dr. Bernard Busse; her brothers, Hal Meredith, USAF (Ret.) Brigadier General Thomas Meredith, John Berkeley Meredith, Edward Andy Meredith, Clayton Thurman Meredith; her nephew's wife, Maria Meredith; and family friend, Dr. Charles Hess.

Mrs. Busse earned an AB Degree from Elon University and a Master's Degree in Education from UVA. She was a lifelong music educator in the N.C. and Va. school systems. The opportunity to become a member of The Washington Cathedral Choir was a treasured achievement. As a pediatric oncology volunteer at UVA Medical Center, she loved helping the children she met. She was a choir member and Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville.

Survivors include her stepson, Paul Busse and wife, Kayron, of Glen Allen, Va.; her stepdaughter, Laura Gray and her husband, Barry; her loving nieces and nephews and their spouses, Marjorie Poyck of Tucson, Ariz., Bo and Kathy Meredith of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jack and Betty Meredith of Virginia Beach, Kathryn and Dale Herring of Burlington, N.C., Aimee and Bob Rombach of San Diego, Calif., Andy Meredith of Wendell, N.C., Earl and Wendy Meredith of Greensboro, N.C.; a step-grandson, Jon Gray,(Sarah), and Christopher Busse,(Debbie), Matthew Busse,(Melissa); and step-granddaughter, Jennifer Gray,(Jim Overall).

The viewing will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. David Forney officiating with a reception to follow. The interment will be held that morning, at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro, Va. at 10 a.m.
