Joyce Mitchell (Wingfield) - Class Of 1961

 

Photo Joyce M. Wingfield, 64, of Charlottesville passed away Monday, August 6, 2007, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born August 4, 1943, in Charlottesville. She was the daughter of the late Birdie Mitchell.

She is survived by her husband, Pete Wingfield; two sons, Jonathan Wingfield of Charlottesville and Stephen Wingfield and his wife, Keri, of Charlottesville; a daughter, Jennifer Johnston and her husband, William, of Lake Monticello. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Joshua, Whitney, Austin and Kaitlyn Wingfield; Meaghan, Brandon, and Hailey Johnston; a sister, Linda Burton and her husband, Ed, of Charlottesville; and a host of other family members and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Birdie Mitchell; a sister, Shirley Ferneyhough; and a brother, Herman Mitchell.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Charlottesville.

The family expresses their appreciation to Dr. Amir Jazarei and his staff at the University of Virginia Cancer Center as well as the staff of the University of Virginia Infusion Center for their support and loving care.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2007, at the Cherry Avenue Christian Church with Mr. Frank Forehand officiating. Burial will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens.

Hill and Wood Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
