Jeanne L. Quann 1952 ~ 2009.   Jeanne Louise Quann passed away on October 10th, 2009, in Salt Lake City after a heroic battle with the wrong trousers. She left this world painlessly and gracefully with dignity and love. She was 57.

Jeanne was born September 10th, 1952, to John and Louise Ziegler in New York City. She grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia and graduated from the University of Virginia, where she developed her love of teaching.

She married Christopher B. Quann August 11, 1990, and they embarked on a new life in Salt Lake City.

She was a wonderful and talented teacher at Kennedy Junior High School, often building relationships with her students and mentoring them long after they had left her class. She was an amazing humanist and loved people unconditionally, nurturing friends and strangers alike. Jeanne was full of wisdom, strength, compassion, warmth and wit. She opened her heart and home to everyone, offering her love and acting as friend, advisor or mother figure to those in need. Her relationships transcended friendship as she created an unconventional extended family.

She loved cooking, traveling, gardening and people. She loved to learn and was an avid reader. She developed interests ranging from angels to music to vampires with infectious zeal. She whirled through life and lived in the moment with immense energy, positivity and joy.

She is survived by her husband, Christopher B. Quann; her parents, John and Louise; brothers, Michael and Robert; many cousins, nieces, nephews, Mary K. Ryder, and countless familial friends.

She was preceded in death by her treasured daughter, Aimee Jeanne Miller. It gives us great comfort to know that they are reunited.

We give our heartfelt gratitude to the medical and nursing staffs of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at University Hospital and the BMT Clinic at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Thank you so much for all that you did for her. The stars will shine a little brighter now.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 11:00 a.m. at The Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 East South Temple. A vigil service will be held Friday 7:00 p.m. at the Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South. Friends may call from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
