Deborah Jean Gibson - Class Of 1970

 

Deborah Jean Gibson, 56, of Charlottesville, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at her home.

She was born January 24, 1952, in Charlottesville, to Ruth Simmons Gibson and the late Charles Lyman Gibson.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a brother; Charles Bernard Gibson and his wife, Barbara F. Gibson; two sisters, Carolyn G. Batten and Delores "Dee" Shiflett and her husband, Calvin L. Shiflett; two nieces, Janet B. Ryan and her husband Patrick Ryan and Tammy K. Shiflett; two nephews, Gregory A. Batten and Charles LeRoss Gibson.

She is also survived by a number of great-nieces and nephews.

She was retired from the University of Virginia Law Library and a member of First Presbyterian Church.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Teague Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Reverend Robert Johnson from First Presbyterian Church, and assisted by the Reverend Bill Olewiler from Mount Moriah United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008.
